Laser Induced Plasma Etching - LIPE
Laser Induced Plasma Etching for Ultraprecise Surface Machining
As part of this CELab project, students will design an installation for laser-induced plasma etching (LIPE) on 2D substrates. Using ultra-short laser pulses, a microplasma will be generated precisely at the focal position in the etching gas, leading to ultra-precise ablation on any surface material, including metals and insulating materials.
Students will explore various experimental parameters and develop a process to achieve controlled surface ablation for patterning. This multidisciplinary project will provide hands-on experience in laser technology, plasma physics and surface science, enabling students to develop advanced manufacturing skills.
