Peter Wurz has a degree in electronic engineering, B.Sc. (1981), a M.Sc. (1987) and a Ph.D. in Physics from Technical University of Vienna, Austria (1990). He has been a post-doctoral researcher at Argonne National Laboratory, USA. Since 1992 at the University of Bern, since 2008 full Professor of physics, from 2015 to 2022 head of the Space Science and Planetology division, and since 2022 director of the Physics Institute. He has been Co-I and PI for many science instruments for space missions of ESA, NASA, ISRO, CNSA, Roscosmos, and JAXA investigating planets, their moons, and comets in the solar system.
