Jürgen Burger is Professor for Precision Engineering and Translational Medicine at the School of Biomedical and Precision Engineering, University of Bern. He is also the Director of Studies for the Master of Science in Precision Engineering.

After working at the CSEM, the Tegimenta AG (Hoffmann-La Roche), he was elected in 1996 as Professor of Micro and Medical Technology at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH). In 2006 he co-founded the MSc Biomedical Engineering Master's Program at the University of Bern in collaboration with Prof. Nolte, University of Bern

In 2008, as R & D Director, he took over the Microsystems Division at the Johnson & Johnson Center for Smart Implants and Instruments, where he was involved in developing and launching various products and developed complex business models with industries, universities, and government agencies.

After a research stay at Swinburne University, Melbourne, Australia in 2003 and various appointments to chairs in Biomedical Engineering, among others, at Charité, Humboldt University, Berlin, University of Sydney, and the University of Stuttgart, he completed his habilitation at the University of Bern in 2008, where in 2014 he was appointed titular professor in 2014.

Jürgen Burger's research focuses on bringing innovative treatment methods and therapeutic/diagnostic systems into clinical use. Special focus is on intelligent implants and surgical instruments in combination with pharmaceutical products.
